Answers:
- How does Membership work?
If one of our company representatives has met you already and you receive semi-regular
mailings from the company, you are likely "pre-approved" for Membership.
If our company representatives have not met you, you must "Apply for Membership."
You may also be NOMINATED by a Member in good standing, which will speed up your
approval process.
Once the Social Empire has received your Membership Application, we will try to
phone, email or meet with you to get a sense of who you are, why you're interested,
and whether you would be a "good fit" for this service (remember, this
is primarily for intelligent, social people with a good attitude - if you "have
no other options" for getting a social life, this probably isn't for you.)
If you don't make our "spider-senses" tingle, then your application will
be approved and your credit card will be processed.
On the following Monday, after you become a member and have paid your weekly dues,
you will receive an e-mail outlining events in your locale. The list of events varies
on what's going on in the city and what level of service you're subscribed to.
- What's the difference between the three Memberships?
There's actually four Memberships: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum
The Bronze Membership entitles you to receive our weekly event listings spreadsheet.
From this sheet, we'll give your our take on what we think are the best events suited
to your tastes/need. From this sheet, you can choose up to two events and we'll
mail you the information we have for the event which usually includes the venue,
price of the event, promoter's contact coordinates, etc.
The Silver Membership gets you the same mailout as the Bronze Membership and more!
With the Silver Membership, you can choose from five events a week plus if there's
a certain exclusive event that you have your eyes set on, we'll make an introduction
to the host/promoter/organizer of the event to make sure your entrance is smooth.
The Gold Membership gets you a larger mailout than the Bronze and Silver Memberships.
The special Gold Membership mailout contains events that are generally not accessible
to the public. From this sheet, you can choose up to seven events and we'll mail
you the information we have for those evens. If there's a couple of events you'd
like to attend and beforehand, you'd like be introduced to the host/promoter/organizer,
we'll make it so. At the same time, if there's an event which has a 400 person line
and you'd like VIP access to, leave it to us, we'll do that once for you in the
week.
We can't discuss the Platinum Membership privileges in this section.
- You have a Platinum Membership? What's that about?
The Platinum Membership is by invitation only.
- What's included in my fees?
On a weekly basis you'll receive an email containing event information. It's up
to you to request additional information regarding the events you want to attend
at that point. All costs related to attending the event are on top of the fees you
pay us. If there is an entrance fee, bar tab, food bill, etc., you are responsible
for these costs.
- What makes Social Empire so great that you can charge so much for the service?
The Social Empire is all about quality. We cut the bullshit so you don't have to
suffer through mediocre people and substandard places.
Think of a night out at the bar in bottle service. You're likely all drunk so you're
definitely around like-minded people. At the same time, your evening bill is about
$1000 and you probably didn't make any connections, except perhaps with the bartender.
What about that night out at the Michelin-rated restaurant? Meet your newest, bestest
pal at dinner? Probably not. The chef might come out and stroll the room to receive
accolates from his guests but that's about it.
- Under what circumstances could I lose my Membership?
If you abuse any of the Terms of Service noted on the site, or the Boring User Agreement,
you're toast, and you don't get your money back for the current week.
If, however, you haven't "done" anything "bad" but our company
representative gets the feeling that you are really not a good fit for Social Empire
Membership, then we will be having a private chat with you and placing your membership
on probation. If we feel that the situation has not improved during your probation,
your Membership will be canceled and your access to the events of your choice will
be revoked. Please also see "Termination/Refund Policies."
- What about the disclaimer? Everyone has a disclaimer, right?
We provide you with quality event programming in the city. There are some events that we're apprised of that we just can't get you into, doesn't matter who you are. There's also events that we only find out about on the day of or after the fact. We're good but we aren't god. Yet.
You have to use this service in order to make it work, going out and connecting doesn't happen if you're sitting in your hotel room watching re-runs of M*A*S*H.
VIP walk-in service and introduction services do not guarantee entry into an establishment and need to be booked in advance of the actual event. Some of the meatheads that run the door at establishments may not respect previous arrangements and/or relationships. Although we strive to keep you clear of idiots, ultimately your choices of events may reflect.
- Okay, so prove it to me - what events might I attend if I'm a member?
There's a couple things that we have for the skeptic. Being closely affiliated to
Urban Mixer, we cover a good number of events that we've been to at www.urbanmixer.com. Our President Raj Taneja also appears weekly on local
radio to talk about the social event scene weekly - back issues are also posted
on the Urban Mixer website. Finally, click HERE for recent a list
of events that our Bronze and Silver Members would have access to and HERE for a recent list of events that our Gold Members would have access to.
